Baney Construction & Restoration, Inc

When businesses fail to uphold ethical standards, it can lead to dissatisfaction among clients and damage to their reputation. In the case of Baney Construction & Restoration, Inc, some individuals have expressed concerns regarding their business practices. Here are a few areas that have been highlighted:

Baney Construction & Restoration, Inc. has been sued by the U.S. Department of Labor for failing to pay $360,531 in penalties related to repeated fall hazard violations in Illinois and Wisconsin. The company also has complaint profiles listed with the Better Business Bureau.

  • Violations: The lawsuit stemmed from repeated safety violations involving fall hazards.

  • Penalties: The total penalties affirmed by the commission were $226,530 for Illinois violations and $134,001 for Wisconsin violations.

  • Legal Action: The Office of the Solicitor in Chicago filed the suit after the company failed to pay these penalties.

The worst thing about Baney Construction is their horrible business "ethics". Aside from the job they did on my home, which I'll address in moment, they also worked on my 73 year-old, recently-widowed mother's home in the same neighborhood. She doesn't use a computer, so her terrible experience with Baney Construction would go untold if not for me telling it here. And I know first-hand of which I speak. It all began after a major hail storm hit our area on April 28, 2012, damaging many roofs in the area. Like me, they were contracted by my mother to replace her roof, and also to do the roof on her stand-alone tool shed in the backyard. They completed the roof on the house, which was later found to have been done insufficiently and needing further repairs, but as contracted, they neglected to do the roof on the tool shed. That's not the worst of it. They then sent a letter of customer satisfaction, WHICH THEY FORGED WITH MY RECENTLY DECEASED FATHER'S NAME, to my mother's insurance company in an attempt to get paid, despite not finishing the job for which they were contracted to complete. We were obviously appalled and outraged once this was brought to light. Our local CBS News affiliate even did a consumer watchdog report on it, and it is being investigated by local law enforcement. I hired this company six months ago for some storm damage repair they took almost a ten thousand dollars retainer from me last September, and have recently informed me they cannot fix my damages for that amount. So I've sent them multiple e-mails and text messages. They have ghosted me cashed my check . I cannot get an answer on their main phone line. So at this point in time they've stolen my money and ghosted me. I will be contacting a lawyer. Do not use this company they will steal your money!

Horrible workmanship. Started my roof in August and never came back. Left siding off and damaged. Crushed my gutters, nails left all over my yard. The worst is my shingles aren't the color I picked. Came home from work and they had half the roof removed and had to say they wanted a progress payment. Just horrible had to hire someone to put my siding back on damaged. Also, they put a hole in my garage ceiling when cutting the roof vent, dropped wood through the ceiling shaking my head. Worst experience ever!

They took the entire insurance check, only completed 2/3 roofs, and didn't touch any of the other items that we had agreed upon. They requested an absurd amount of supplementation from our insurance company, and when that wasn't approved, they disappeared entirely. I have reached out to Dylan several times and have not heard back at all. Not a peep. They also never provided me with a receipt showing how the funds they took were used.

I am also aware that several people in my area have also been ghosted by them, leaving their repairs incomplete. Read more here
